RSD 2024 Black Friday Edition on Green Vinyl "Just A Man" zeigt eine frühe Version des Meisters des Lover's Rock, Beres Hammond: Ein R&B/Disco-Crooner - und zwar ein ziemlich überzeugender. Dieses Album aus dem Jahr 1979 präsentiert ein Who's Who der Reggae-Schwergewichte und enthält den begehrten UK-Soul-Hit „Do This World A Favour“ sowie 7 weitere funky Tracks in voller Länge, die dem Hörer eine andere Seite von Beres' Wurzeln zeigen. Diese neu gemasterte, farbige Vinyl-Ausgabe enthält das seltene „Rolls Royce“-Cover, das ursprünglich auf dem Joe Gibbs-Label veröffentlicht wurde. Das Album wurde von Joe Gibbs produziert, von Willie Lindo arrangiert und von Errol Thompson abgemischt. Zu den Features gehören Val Douglas, Mikey Chung, Dean Fraser, Clive Hunt, Harold Butler, Robbie Lyn und Pam Hall (Gesang).

 

Erste Reissue der einzigen LP des Detroiter Soulsängers Bobby Hutton, "Piece Of The Action", die 1973 auf ABC Records erschien. Produziert von Dee Ervin, enthält die LP Vocalfeatures von Patti Hamilton (The Lovelites), Jean Plum, Mikki Farrow und Frankie Karl, sowie mit "Lend A Hand" einen der grössten "modernen“ Northern Soul-Tracks aller Zeiten. Die CD erscheint zum ersten Mal, vollgepackt mit 11 Bonustracks aus der Zeit zwischen 1969-1974, darunter dem Northern Soul-Favoriten "Come See What's Left Of Me" sowie die rare Post-Album-Single "Loving You, Wanting You, Needing You, Wanting You"/"Watch Where You're Going". Sämtliche Tracks wurden von den Originalbändern remastert.

 - Exclusive Lemonbrust VinylFounded by composer and percussionist Vincent Montana Jr., Salsoul Orchestra was a big band with a twist: they played disco. Active from 1974 to the early 1980s, they served as the backing band for several vocalists on Salsoul Records and recorded their own material, which included eleven LPs of hard-hitting Philly soul, Latin percussion, and funk. Featuring up to 50 members, the orchestra helped shape the sound of an era. Flamboyant string arrangements, funked-up guitars, and cheeky vocals, topped by an unfaltering horn section, made for memorable hits such as “Tangerine” and “Salsoul Hustle.” Mind-blowing renditions of Christmas classics, like “Little Drummer Boy,” earned the band a place in the charts: their third record, Christmas Jollies, became the bestselling holiday album in 1976 and 1977. Despite Montana disbanding the group in 1982, their legacy has endured well into the present day, shaping house and dance music and being sampled by many prominent artists.
